Montreal day 2

The North American region is live and kicking! After yesterday’s elemination and decider matches, we now have our four final teams competing for the number 1 prize of $50,000 at DreamHack ASTRO Open Montreal. Here’s how it played out.

With North and Immortals already qualified for the semifinals, yesterday came down to a battle between six teams from three different countries. Starting the day with Gale Force against CLG in Group A, CLG showed an extremely strong performance by not allowing GFE to take more than 10 rounds during two games. CLG would then move on to the decider match against Kinguin – a team the’ve lost against in the first round by 16-4 on Mirage. In the rematch, CLG had plenty of momentum from last game, defeating Kinguin on both Train and Mirage.

In Group B, Luminosity beat compLexity with two close games on Inferno and Train, which then put them up against Cloud 9 in the decider match. Cloud 9, showing great form against Immortals, started the match by winning Cache with 16-12. The following game on Train was an even greater performance were Cloud 9 opened their CT side with 13-2, then closing the game on T with a 3-3. Today the face North – a team they faced recently in DreamHack Masters Malmö. The rematch will be an interesting treat.
