BIG to replace Fnatic at DreamHack Winter

Swedish squad Fnatic have been forced to withdraw from the forthcoming DreamHack ASTRO Open at DreamHack Winter, December 1-3 in Jönköping, Sweden. They will be replaced by DreamHack Denver runner-ups BIG.

While we were thrilled to see a Swedish team compete in front of a home crowd, Fnatic will forfeit their spot for the last DreamHack ASTRO Open of the year. The reason mentioned is a mix of schedule-related and personal issues.

Statement by Fnatic

It is with regret that today our CS:GO team have been forced to withdraw from our upcoming participation at DreamHack Winter, and further to this compete with a stand-in player for KRiMZ at the WESG Regional Finals.

It is unfortunate, but due to several schedule related issues as well as unforeseen family circumstances, we have felt it necessary to take these decisions and give ourselves the best chance at success overall.

It’s important for us to stress that we did not take this lightly, particularly considering the opportunity to compete on home turf and our respect for the tournament organisers. We have worked at length to find the possible remedies and feel this is the best resolution, all factors considered.

We want to wish all our friends at DreamHack the best of luck in their tournament. Rest assured we’ll be cheering the teams on along with the rest of the home crowd in Jönköping!

Replacing them will be the German team BIG, who recently had great success at DreamHack ASTRO Open in Denver, falling against Cloud9 in the grand final. We thank BIG for replacing Fnatic with such short notice and will be looking forward to see them bring in similar energy to Jönköping has they had in Denver.
