Announcing qualifiers for Leipzig

Today we roll out the qualifiers for the kick off event for DreamHack Open in 2018, featuring Rocket League at DreamHack Leipzig.

Following the announcement of Rocket League featured at the first event of 2018, as well as the four teams invited directly to the event, it’s time to disclose the full details for the online qualifiers in Europe and North America.

Two online regional open qualifiers will be held over two days — one each in North America and Europe. The Open Qualifiers will be open to any participating teams who meet eligibility requirements as indicated by the ruleset.

Age restriction

Participating players must be at least 16 years old to participate in the qualifier as that is a requirement for the live event as well, due to rules and regulations by German law. Players of the age of 16 years and older but younger than 18 should be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian according to the parental guidance in Germany.

European qualifier – SIGNUP HERE

Day 1 – Saturday 13th of January – Open qualifier

Registration closes: Midnight CET on January 12th

Start time: 12:00CET

Format: All matches will be played Best-of-3 to determine the winning team, teams will be competing in a double-elimination bracket.

Max teams: 128

Day 2 – Sunday 14th of January – Closed qualifier
Start time – 14:00CET

Format: All matches will be played Best-of-5 to determine the winning team. Day 2 will begin with eight (8) teams in the upper bracket and eight (8) teams in the lower bracket.

Teams from open qualifier: The number of teams advancing from Day 1 to Day 2 of the qualifier will be determined by the following formula: sixteen (16) minus the number of RLCS Season 5 teams who have accepted the bye.

Invited teams: A bye to the Winners Quarter Final of Day 2 of the qualifier will be issued to all eligible RLCS Season 5 teams who have not yet received an invitation to DreamHack Open Leipzig. This invitation may be declined if teams do not intend on participating in the Open Qualifier.

North American qualifier – SIGNUP HERE

Top two placed teams in the European and North American qualifiers will receive a spot at DreamHack Open in Leipzig, Germany, including travel, hotel and event entry. Winning teams will also receive priority seeding in the DreamHack Open.

If you are planning on participating in the onsite open signups, then be sure to sign up, the signup will open Friday 22nd of December at 12:00CET. A preferential event registration for DreamHack Open Leipzig have been issued for known high tier teams (RLCS, RLRS, Gfinity Elite Series). A total of 24 slots will be available for open signups, and will be paired with the 4 qualifier teams and 4 invited teams. All teams competing in the open signups will be required an event ticket per player, manager etc. Event passes can be obtained by going here.
